Obituary of Lilly Shealy

Lilly Shealy, age 64, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital in Columbia, SC. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on August 3, 1947 Lilly was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Mary C. Buckner. A 1965 graduate of University High School, Lilly worked many years for Southern Bell/BellSouth before retiring from AT&T in 2002. An avid Gamecock fan, Lilly loved all sports and excelled in basketball in high school where she was known as ?Tiger Lil?. Lilly is survived by her beloved son and the light of her eyes, Scott Eric Shealy (Jennifer); grandson, Brendon Scott Shealy, and granddaughter, Isabella Marie Shealy all of Lexington. Also precious to her heart and loved like a grandson is Simon Quinatoa who along with his wonderful parents, Gina and Patricio Quinatoa gave her so much love. Lilly is also survived by her brothers; John Buckner (Gail) of Sumter, SC, Dan Buckner (Edith) of Rogersville, TN; sisters; Pat Mullins (Barry) of Chapin, SC, Joanne Seay (Frank) of Charlotte, NC, and many nieces and nephews who all adored ?Aunt Wee?. She will be greatly missed and we are all better people for having known and loved her. Lilly had a heart of gold and was always full of kindness. She was loved by everyone who met her and leaves behind so many friends to mourn her passing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18th at Greenlawn Funeral Home on Leesburg Road. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19th at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joe Palmer, Tony Buckner, Donnie Buckner, Steve Roland, Blake Roland, Shawn Eckroth and Patricio Quinatoa. The family would like to thank Dr. Reid Tribble and all the staff in CVICU at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital for their extraordinary and compassionate care during her illness.
