Bereaved Parents Remembrance Gathering

Located at Greenlawn Memorial Park - Mausoleum Chapel - 45 Leesburg Rd., Columbia, SC 29209

Please join us for this special time of remembrance for families who have experienced the death of a child at any age. Families are invited to bring a photo of their child to share on our memorial display.

Light refreshments will be served.

Fueling Your Life's Fire

Thompson Funeral Home proudly presents a one-day conference for social workers and healthcare professionals, “Fueling Your Life’s Fire: Sustaining Yourself in a Caring Profession.”

Join us on Friday, September 6th at the William L. Yates Conference Center, 1000 Center Point Road, Columbia, SC 29210 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. We will reconnect with the passion that led us into profession of caring for others and learn how we can sustain and nurture ourselves for career longevity. This program is approved for 4 social work hours and 1 non-social work hour by the National Association of Social Workers.

Registration for the event is $35.

Grief Support Group

3rd Monday of each month
3 PM - 4:30 PM

Join us at The Harmony Collection at Columbia (formerly The Crossings) for a monthly Grief Support Group. Co-facilitated by local grief counselor Mary Beth Lamey and Anne Abel, group meetings are designed to help take you from hurting to healing.

Mary Beth Lamey is a licensed clinical social worker with Thompson Funeral Homes serving as their Community Care Coordinator. Mary Beth graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Masters Degree in Social Work and has provided counseling and support services to grieving families in the Columbia area for over 19 years.

Anne Abel, B.A. Newbury College, CRCFA. She facilitated caregiver support groups for 19 years and has also led workshops and classes for South Carolina activity professionals, Lieutenant Governor's Office on Aging, South Carolina Healthcare Association, Dementia Dialogues, and the Alzheimer's Association. She has worked in Assisted Living communities in various capacities including activity programming, sales, marketing, and Executive Director. Anne is currently at Lighthouse Hospice in Public Relations.
