Grief Support Group - Virtual and In Person

4th Wednesday of each month
3-4:30 PM

Join us for a monthly Grief Support Group hosted in person. Co-facilitated by local grief counselor Mary Beth Lamey and Anne Abel, group meetings are designed to help take you from hurting to healing. As a group, we can overcome the struggle and build each other up to a healthy state of being. Join us and let the healing begin.

Mary Beth Lamey is a licensed clinical social worker with Thompson Funeral Homes serving as their Community Care Coordinator. Mary Beth graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and has provided counseling and support services to grieving families in the Midlands for over 19 years.

Anne Abel, B.A. Newbury College, CRCFA, has facilitated caregiver support groups for 19 years and also led workshops and classes for South Carolina activity professionals, the Lieutenant Governor's Office on Aging, the South Carolina Healthcare Association, Dementia Dialogues, and the Alzheimer's Association. She has worked in Assisted Living communities in various capacities including activity programming, sales, marketing, and Executive Director. Anne currently serves in public relations at Lighthouse Hospice.

Annual Holiday Remembrance Service

On December 14th, we will be hosting our Annual Holiday Remembrance Service at 7:00pm at our Thompson Funeral Home location at 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. There will be a catered reception immediately following the Remembrance Service. Please RSVP to (803) 996-1023 by Friday, December 3 with the number of guests that will be attending.

Annual Candlelight Remembrance Service

Greenlawn Memorial Park - 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209

The staff of Thompson Funeral Home and Greenlawn Memorial Park invite you to our Annual Candlelight Remembrance Service and luminary display.

There will be a catered reception immediately following the Remembrance Service. Please RSVP to (803) 219-8811 by November 29th with the number of guests that will be attending.

With assistance of Lower Richland High School JROTC, luminaries will be placed throughout the park. The candles will be lit as dusk falls.

For those unable to attend, the service will be available for viewing via live stream at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/5150770562.

We will be creating a Remembrance Photo Memorial Tribute. If you wish to have your loved one's photo appear in this video memorial, please submit 1 photo by November 29th via email to marybeth.lamey@thompsonsfuneral.com. If hand delivered, photos can be picked up any time following the service.

Lexington County's 19th Annual Veteran's Parade

This event will take place on Sunday, November 7th beginning at 3:00pm on East Main Street and South Lake Drive of Downtown Lexington. Rain date is Sunday, November 14th. We will be honoring Veteran Mr. Murray Price and Veteran Mr. Hugh Rogers.

Knights of Columbus "Honoring Our Veterans" Event

Honoring Our Veterans

An inaugural patriotic event hosted by Thompson Funeral Home and Greenlawn Memorial Park and sponsored by Knights of Columbus (KofC)

WHAT: U.S. Flag Placements at Veterans’ gravesites in Garden H of Greenlawn Memorial Park.

WHO: Thompson Funeral Home and Greenlawn Memorial Park Staff, KofC Assembly and Councils in northeast Columbia, volunteer patriots including youth ministries, scouts, Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps for service-hour credit, and all local patriotic citizens.

WHEN and WHERE: Sunday, November 7, 2021, 1:30 to 3:30 PM, Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 (across the street from Thompson Funeral Home). This event is in preparation for the Veterans’ Day ceremonies, parades, and other memorials that follow in the Midlands area on Wednesday, November 11, 2021.

WHY/PURPOSE: Honor interred veterans and their families who served in the eight United States uniformed services (U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Space Force, and the Commissioned Officer Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Public Health Service).
