Obituary of Catherine Driggers

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Catherine Martin Driggers, 87, of West Columbia, will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at State Street Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Tommy Pillow. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to State Street Baptist Church General Fund, 1420 State Street, Cayce, SC 29033 or as a current mission offering. Mrs. Driggers, beloved wife of the late James Ralph Driggers, Sr., passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012. Born in Laurens, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Theodore Martin and Mamie Ruth Austin Martin. She was an area resident since 1955 formerly of Greenville. She was a devoted member of State Street Baptist Church. She retired from the South Carolina Baptist Convention in 1988 after 13 years in the Sunday School and Church Music Departments. Surviving are her daughter, Karen White of Hilton Head Island; sons, James Ralph Driggers, Jr. (Ruth) of Moore, Joseph Mark Driggers (Joy) of Winston-Salem, NC and Paul Keith Driggers (Jane) of West Colombia; nine grandchildren and three great- grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Fleming and Ruth Crawford, and a brother, Joseph Martin.
