Obituary of Joan Dennis

CAYCE—Joan Spigner Dennis, wife of C. Henry Dennis died Sunday, July 1, 2012. Mrs. Dennis was born November 2, 1933. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She taught Algebra at Lexington High School for 27 years. Before retiring in 1995, she finished out her teaching career at White Knoll Middle School. She was the daughter of the late W.D. (Bill) and Odell Brady Spigner of St. Matthews. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, C. Henry Dennis; son, Duane (Janet) of Lexington and her two grandchildren, Savannah and Justin of her late son Joel also of Lexington. Mrs. Dennis was a loving wife, mother and friend. She loved her family and cherished her many friends. She will be deeply missed. Services for Joan Spigner Dennis, 78, of Cayce, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Allen. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Matthews. The family will receive friends from 12 noon - 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, 4347 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072 or a charity of one's choice. The family wishes to thank all of those whom have loved and supported us all over the past several months.
