She was one of "those" rare teachers who leave a lastsing impression. Something as simple as "My Dear Aunt Sally" lit a light that still burns. Please accept my deepest condolences.

What a tremendous teacher and a true friend. Although I graduated more than 37 years ago I have never forgotten her and never will. She was the one that taught me to love math. My family's prayers and thoughts are truly with your family during these tough days. May God hold you tightly in his hand and comfort you with his loving kindness.

I have never forgotten what a wonderful teacher Miss Dennis was. My wife and I ran into her at the grocery store one day. She asked me what I did for a living and I found it hard to answer her question but I did. I told her I was a Land Surveyor and she laughed so hard I thought she would cry. My wife then asked why she was laughing and thats when I said I had told Miss Dennis one day after not doing my homework that I would never Need algebra or trig after school. I use it every day. Thanks for teaching me so well. God bless your family.

Joan was undoubtably one of the most wonderful women I have ever known. Our many years of teaching together and carpooling to work gave me an appreciation for her generosity, her care for others, and mostly her love for family.

Joan and Henry were my "adopted grandparents" during the time I lived in S.C. For many many years every Monday morning Henry and Joan faithfully volunteered on the Teller Committee at Northside Baptist Church. During those Monday mornings, we would solve all the problems of the world. Henry, Joan and Pat Whittle loved, encouraged, and guided me through many of the ups and downs of my life. I can never express how thankful I am to our Sweet Lord that He put such wonderful Christian Counselors in my world. After I relocated back to Atlanta, Joan and I kept up those "world saving" conversations almost weekly during my morning commute to work in Atlanta traffic. I can not describe how much I am going to miss our conversations ~ I feel so lost without Joan ~ my wise trusted counsel and friend. My heart hurts so much for you Henry and Duane ~ first with the loss of Dear Joel and now with the loss of your precious Wife and Mother. I pray for God's Supernatural Peace and Comfort to you both. May He wrap His Loving Arms tight around you. You have my warmest thoughts, prayers and love.

I will always have such lovely memories of our Sunday afternoons in the back yard at Aunt Dees and Mom and Dad's yards...playing. Joanne was such a family person. She just loved her mom, her children and her loving husband. She called me often just to see how we were, to keep in touch, and I always enjoyed hearing about her two most favorite subjects... Joel and Duane. She was kind, patient, and such a sweet person. I am so thankful to have been a part of her family, and to have been loved by her. I will really miss her sweet voice over the phone. My heart goes out to you, Henry and Duane. You have really had a tough few months...well, longer than that. I pray for you that God sends you peace and healing, and that joy can begin to fill your hearts and your homes as you heal and move through your losses. I love you all so much... even though we don't see each other like we used to, you are still in my heart and thoughts and prayers. Peace to you all.
