I have wonderful memories of Mrs. Shaw during my two years at Dentsville HS in 1963-65. She was the yearbook advisor and I was the editor my senior year. We spent many hours after school together working on it. Always softspoken, she advised wisely and well. I am very grateful for both her instruction and her influence in my life. Please accept my deepest sympathy in her loss.

Mr. Shaw, please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother. Had I known she was still in the Midlands area, I would have contacted Mrs. Shaw directly to express my sincere appreciation for being one of the finest teachers at Dentsville High School. You probably already know, but your mother was a strict instructor with high expectations for her students. She, along with Ruth Greer and Patty Fields, set the bar as teachers in the English Department. To this day, personally and professionally as an attorney, I continue to use the rules of grammar and research skills learned as your mother's tutelage. Again, I am sorry for your family's loss and simply wanted you to know that Mrs. Shaw's instruction in English lives on in the lives of many of her former students.
