Obituary of Carl Tisdale

IRMO—A memorial service for Carl Eugene "Gene" Tisdale, Jr., 66, of Irmo, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Lance Henderson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gene's honor to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1500 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169 or a charity of one's choice. Mr. Tisdale, beloved husband of Brenda Miller Tisdale, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Born in Columbia, he was the son of Arrie Ruth Tisdale and the late Carl Eugene Tisdale, Sr. Surviving in addition to his wife of 40 years, Brenda M. Tisdale of Irmo; mother, Arrie Ruth Tisdale of West Columbia; son, Carl J. Tisdale (Tiffany) of Tega Cay; daughter, Allison T. Rivers (Jeff) of Irmo; grandchildren, Logan and Emma Tisdale, Carson, Rylie, Jaden and Tye Rivers; siblings, Larry Tisdale (Patti) of High Point, NC, Ruth Bearden (John) of West Columbia and Mike Tisdale (Nan) of Gilbert; along with many loving nieces and nephews. Gene graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He managed the family business Tisdale Transfer and Storage and continued management in the moving and storage business for over forty years. Gene retired from Hilldrup Moving and Storage in the fall of 2009 due to illness. Gene was a caring and loving family man who enjoyed boating, camping and spending time with his family. He loved all types of sports and was an avid Gamecock fan.
