Gene was a man of compassion, integrity, generosity, and honesty, as well as a loving son, husband, and father. Of the many gifts and accomplishments Gene possessed, his greatest gift to our family is his son, Carl, whom he guided and influenced in becoming the man he is today--a successful professional, our daughter's loving husband, and the wonderful father of our grandchildren. Gene will never be forgotten because of the living gifts he has left behind. He will be greatly missed, especially by two children who will remember him as Grandpa Gene. Somehow, condolences do not seem enough. I knew and loved Gene from Cayce Grammar School through college. In the fifth grade he and I quietly started what we called the Homework Club, in which we got several boys together and divided up the day's homework so that we could still get it all done, which was by copying each other's answers the morning of class. I took the heat for that when the principal got wind of it and Gene never forgot. When it was time for my new bride and me to move our pitifully few belongings to Texas A&M for the next semester, Gene knew we were virtually penniless and so sent the furniture to Texas A&M for free, waving away my offers to pay him back one day. "That's what friends do" he told us. Thank you, Gene. I miss you.

First of all I want to express my deepest condolances to the Tisdale family. I worked for Gene for 10 plus years. I would not be where I am today if not for Gene. He put together a team in Greenville that set the standard for Hilldrup many years ago. There is not a day that has gone by that does not remind of something that Gene taught me at Hilldrup. I will miss Gene peeking his head into dispatch and asking myself and Billy "where are you going for lunch?" I am a much better person for what he taught me. I will miss you "Big Guy"

My prayers are with the Tisdale family. I enjoyed my 5 years at Hilldrup with Gene serving as my boss. Gene always handled each "crisis" with a calmness that helped to settle all those involved. That made an impact on me as a young professional and has served me well in my career. He will be missed by many people.
