Obituary of John Marshall

John Lewis Marshall, III, 59, went to dwell in the house of the Lord on Monday, October 1, 2012. A friend to everyone, Johnny never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late John L. Marshall, Jr., and Nina Ginn Marshall. A devoted husband of forty years and exemplary father, he leaves his legacy to his wife, Robin Campbell Marshall; his son, John L. Marshall, IV (Alison) of Sarasota, FL and daughter, Jennifer Stepp (Jason) of West Columbia; a proud grand ?daddidy?, he is a guardian angel to his grandchildren, John L. Marshall, V and Evelyn Marshall along with grand dogs, Brownie & Daisy; sisters, Jean Padgett and Anne Hart (James); also many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Davis L. Padgett. Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, grilling, photography, music, and assisting friends in numerous handy man projects over the years. He had a monumental work ethic and supervised the SCETV vehicle fleet for forty years. Twenty-eight years ago Johnny survived a battle with Non-Hodgkin?s Lymphoma enabling him to raise his two wonderful children. We are honored and blessed that he touched our lives and filled our hearts with so much joy. He will live on forever in all who knew him. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, in the Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Steve Turner.
