Obituary of Marianne Bushardt

WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Marianne Adkins Bushardt, 63, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at West Side Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend John McKeown and Reverend Fred K. Adkins, Jr. Interment will follow in West Side Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to West Side Baptist Church, United in Faith We Give, 2100 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia, SC 29169. Marianne passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Born in Rahway, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Fred Kline Adkins, Sr., and Mary Etta Smith Adkins. Marianne was a faithful member of West Side Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the adult choir, directing the pre-school choirs, and serving as church treasurer. She was a certified professional secretary with Carolina Eastman and a former employee of the University of South Carolina in Human Resources Salary Administration. Marianne was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend who loved her Lord and her church. Everyone who met Marianne walked away feeling better. She lived too briefly on this earth but will leave a life time of memories to many. She was awesome! Survivors include: her loving husband of 38 years, William Michael "Hootie" Bushardt of West Columbia; daughter, Ashley Michelle Bushardt of West Columbia; siblings, Elizabeth Adkins Laird of Lexington, Reverend Fred Kline Adkins, Jr., (Dottie) of Colonial Heights, VA, Deb Adkins Bailey (David) of Cleveland, TN, and Sharon Adkins MacMillan (Dave) of Leesville, SC; nieces and nephews, Shannon Maxwell, Fred Adkins, III, Gina Adkins Vaughan, Amanda Henderson, Melinda Bailey, Alexandra MacMillan, Tara Brynn MacMillan, Brandi Fulmer, Craig Fulmer, Olivia Bushardt, Christian Bushardt and Joanna Bushardt. Marianne was preceded in death by her niece, Layla Gumati.
