Obituary of Imo Cromer

WEST COLUMBIA: Mrs. Imo Martin Cromer passed away with family by her side on March 14, 2013, after a ten-month struggle with MDS (blood disorder). A graveside service will be held at Celestial Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013. The family will greet friends at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia location, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Imo Cromer, the youngest of four children, was born on April 5, 1923, in Saluda, S.C., to the late Haskel and Neva Martin. In 1945 she married Paul A. Cromer after his return from service in World War II and they resided together for 57 years in West Columbia until his death in 2003. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings; James C. Martin, Ellie Mae Black, and Mary Edna Lemond. Surviving are her son, Alec Cromer; his wife, Sharon Cromer; and grandson, Jason Cromer. Imo was an active member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church until the onset of the MDS. Her primary occupation since 1951 was a homemaker. She loved keeping her house and yard "just so". She will be remembered for her outgoing personality and sense of humor. The family thanks the staffs of Lexington Oncology, Lexington Medical Center Infusion, and Palmetto Health Home Care Services/Hospice for their excellent care and caring during Imo's illness. Memorials may be made to Holland Avenue Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
