Obituary of Ronald James Evans

COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Ronald James Evans, 75, of Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Marcin Zahuta will be officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Mr. Evans, beloved husband of Dale Casselman, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013. Born in New York, NY, he was a son of the late Robert Evans and Mary Greene Evans. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1979. Mr. Evans proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 23 years. Following his service to this country, he worked for the Diocese of Charleston and retired after 20 years of dedicated service. Mr. Evans was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree as well as the Lay Franciscans. Memorials may be made in his honor to a charity of one's choice. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 51 years, Dale C. Evans of Columbia; son, Patrick Evans and his wife, Gwen; grandson, Peter and granddaughter, Claire; five sisters; five brothers, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. We pray that God has welcomed him with open arms and will love him forever as we have loved him in this life.
