Joseph M. Goodson, CNHS Class of '04 posted a condolence

Mr. Evans taught religion at Cardinal Newman High School for many years; I was lucky enough to have been one of his students. He had a keen sense of humor that, unfortunately, I feel we high school kids did not fully appreciate. He was a good teacher, and a very kind man. I remember one day, he marched the entire class down to the principal's office, in near military fashion, ordering us to remain silent. We were all quite nervous, assuming we were in trouble, and casting suspicious glances at one another speculating as to who ratted on whom, or who did what to get us all punished. In the end, it turned out that Mr. Evans just wanted to have a bit of fun with the class before informing us that we were free to go for the day. We were rather relieved, and all had a good laugh. That is a fond memory of high school. He will be missed. Rest in Peace.

I am so sorry about Uncle Ronnie's passing. I have such great memories of him, especially when I was young. I loved his bear hugs and always laugh when I think of our cocker spaniel Danny chasing him around our house when he visited us as Santa. He made me an amazing doll cake for my 13th birthday. I loved the smell of his pipe. He always had wonderful words of wisdom. He was a man of integrity and faith whom I greatly admired. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May happy memories give you peace.
Love, Lori Ferrari-Quann

Mr Evans was my religion teacher at cardinal Newman 22 years ago. He had a sign in his room that read, "you're great. God doesn't make junk." Being in high school some days could be more difficult than others. But that message he shared & his care for all of his students made it all easier.

I have some very wonderful memories..... baking my wedding cake, the dog nipping at "Santa's" heals, the smell of his pipe, and many wonderful family visits. I know that there are no words that can ease your pain right now, but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. May all your memories give you strength and peace. Love and Hugs!!

I am so sorry for your loss. May "the God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) comfort and soothe your heart. His promises, found in the Holy Scriptures, can offer much hope. It assures us at John 5:28,29 that our loved ones will be remembered and brought back to life in the resurrection. Please allow God's Word to strengthen you and help you to endure this most difficult time.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Please find comfort in the promises at Revelation 21:4 that reads; "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. Neither will mourning, outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things has passed away."

Dale, Patrick, Gwen, Peter & Claire, We are so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He was a wonderful man, who loved his family & life to the fullest. Our boys still talk about the time he wore his "yellow king hat" while eating watermelon all those years ago while we visited you. He was a special brother & brother-in-law and we will miss his talks & smile, I especially will miss his bear hugs. He will be missed by those who knew him, but we can rejoice that he is now with his Heavenly Father.
Love to you all,
Gordy & Amy Evans

Ron was one of the first people we met upon our arrival in Columbia 18 years ago at the Post Chapel on Fort Jackson. Even after retirement as a Chaplain Assistant he continued to give to the community serving for over 15 years as director of religious education. He modeled his faith by living it fully and unabashedly in all circumstances; steadfast to the very end. RIP good an faithful servant; you have surely entered into your Father's joy!

Our Franciscan family has lost a great soul. However, his energy and words that he last spoke to our Franciscan family so much reminded me of the spirit and zeal of both Saint Francis and Clare. Ron, Thank you for your wisdom and humor. Now that your journey is complete on this end. When you see the Lord be humble, praise him and he will keep you,- the look upon you will be with his kindness and goodness in eternal peace,- the Lord has blessed you.
The Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Your Franciscan Brother,
Terrence R. Chisolm, OFS

Our community has lost a very dear person. He was a kind and very religious man. We have known Ron for about 30 years. We first knew him when he was the DRE at Saint Joseph's. Then he taught with me at Cardinal Newman. He was my children's Theology teacher, and they loved him dearly too. He taught religion to so many young people and always shared his faith with everyone he met! Everyone loved and respected him greatly! He was a man that lived his faith! I posted on Facebook about Ron's passing, and the comments and memories that people have shared have been overwhelming. It was obvious that he influenced many people in so many wonderful ways! He was a treasure, and he will be greatly missed by all! I know Ron went straight to heaven, and he will be waiting to greet all of us one day! God bless Ron! My love and condolences to Dale, Patrick, Gwen, and his sweet grandchildren Peter and Clare!

He was a wonderful teacher to me. He prepared me for communion in 4th grade. So nice! I remember in high school, he gave me a make-up test by reading it. If my answer was wrong he kind of grimace and then I changed my answer. His heart was so big!!!

I have so many fond memories of Ron. He was a great teacher and director. My son, Winston, was so fond of him when he was at Cardinal Newman. I also remember attending St. Thomas More with Ron for years. He will be missed.
However, I'm quite sure he's on the fast track to heaven!

Our memories of Ron are treasures. Mainly treasures for our souls as Ron shared his knowledge, love and spirit of the Church with us every month. We received his gifts when we shared our Franciscan life with him, these gifts will be with us always. We thank you Ron and pray you are with the God of Love and Mercy, the God of Francis, and the God that gave you life, a life now to share with Him forever.
Peace of Christ, please pray for us.
