Obituary of Kerry Theodore Nicholas

WEST COLUMBIA-Funeral service for Kerry T. Nicholas, 65, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Oasis Christian Fellowship, 1325 Whippoorwill Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Reverend James Ceman will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Memorials may be made to Oasis Christian Fellowship, 1325 Whippoorwill Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Kerry passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014. Born on April 12, 1948 at Fort Dix in Trenton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Belmont T. and June Sharpe Nicholas. Kerry was instrumental in bringing Trinity Broadcasting Network to the Midlands area. He was very active in his church, Oasis Christian Fellowship, where he served as an Elder. Kerry was an awesome left-handed bass guitar player. He owned, managed, and played with the Band, Shoreline for several years, as well as other bands throughout his life. Surviving is his loving wife of over 20 years, Patricia Rucker Nicholas; his children from a previous marriage; Kerry T. Nicholas, Jr., Michael Nicholas, Allison Harris and Kara Lathrop; his sisters, Melissa Bryant and Tamara Rabon (Don); six grandchildren; two nieces, two nephews and one grandniece.
