Obituary of Elzetta Mixon

COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Elzetta "Zootie" Mixon will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at Saluda River Baptist Church, 3459 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 will be assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Saluda River Baptist Church Building Fund, 3459 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Mixon passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Born on July 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Claude Erskine and Ruth T. Shealy. She retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission after 31 years of service. Mrs. Mixon is survived by her sister, Lurlee Fellers of Columbia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Willie C. Mixon; sisters, Elizabeth Chandler, Ruth Hawkins, Juanita Vousden and a brother, Erskine Taylor Shealy.
