Obituary of Ruby Counts Fedricci

Columbia—Funeral services for Ruby Counts Fedricci, 85, of Columbia, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209; burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Mrs. Fedricci, who was born in Columbia, SC on July 25, 1928, quietly passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014, following a long illness. She was the daughter of Jackson "Cobb" Counts and Maybelle Miller Spires, both of whom predeceased her. Ruby, who lived in the Eau Claire area as a child, graduated from Columbia High School at the age of 16, married the love of her life at 18, and relocated to New Jersey. She worked for RCA in New Jersey and at Columbia Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, where she was a switchboard operator. Ruby, who was married to the late Thomas Fedricci for 58 years, is survived by her son, Thomas V. Fedricci (Glenda Gifford), her daughter, Janis Fedricci, her granddaughters, Michelle Derrick Felker, Jai Derrick Atkinson and Heather Slyman Miles (Eddie) and her grandsons, Michael V. Fedricci (Debbie Perrigo), Christopher G. Fedricci (Kristin Baier) and Patrick Slyman. She has six great-grandchildren: Vinnie Felker, Rhiannon Atkinson, Carolyn Fedricci, Samantha Fedricci, Michaela Fedricci, and Alexandra Horn. She is also survived by a sister, Naomi Counts Walker, and her brothers, Bobby Counts and Johnny Spires. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Fedricci, and a brother, Jack Counts. Also, the family would like to thank her friends and neighbors from the Laurie Lane area of Rosewood especially Jim Allen, for all of their kindness and friendship over the past 46 years. Also, special thanks to Dr. Martha Parker, Dr. Michael Roberts and the Carroll Campbell Center at Lexington Extended Care for their outstanding care and dedication to Miss Ruby. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation may be made in her honor to the ASPCA, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209.
