Obituary of Joye Carter Collier

A funeral service celebrating the life of Joye Carter Collier, 78, of Columbia will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, July 8, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 with Pastor Mark Bredholt officiating. Ms. Carter-Collier departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 3, 2014. She was born in Dillon, SC to the late Douglas E. Carter and Ruth Jordan Carter. Ms. Carter-Collier graduated from Dreher High School, Class of 1953 and she also retired from the University of South Carolina. She was the chairwoman for the Class of 1953, Dreher High School Alumni. Those left to cherish her beautiful memories are her daughter, Rebecca Collier of Austell, GA; a granddaughter, Simone Standford; four great-grandchildren, Chantz Thomas, Briana Thomas, Kassidy Standford, and Lynden Turner; a host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
