The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Reverend Johnson was born in Augusta to the late Rogers and Agnes Amerson Johnson. He grew up in Glascock County, GA. While attending trade school in Americus, GA, he met his future wife of 50 years, Bonnie Sue Johnson. He answered the call to minister and preach the Gospel, and attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO. He began his career in 1973, and pastored Nazarene churches in Summerville, Rock Hill (Emmanuel), New Ellenton, Pelion and Batesburg. He continued his ministry as Manager of the D. Moody Gunter Camp and Retreat Center for 10 years. The most important things to him were God, his family and the Church. His love of Jesus was evident to all who met him. He always had a story to share, and was quick to brag on one of his children or grandchildren's latest accomplishments. His legacy continues on in his family and in the many hearts he touched beyond. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Johnson; daughter, DeDe Johnson Still of Pelion; sons, Greg Johnson of Greenbrier, TN, Rev.
