Obituary of John Paxton Hill

Lexington - John Paxton Hill, Jr., 80, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at The Chapel at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mr. Hill was born on June 13, 1934 in Paris, Tennessee, son of the late John Paxton Hill, Sr. and Patty Greer Hill. He graduated from Tri State College with a degree in electrical engineering before entering the US Army from 1958 to 1960. After leaving the military he worked as an engineer on the Apollo Space Craft with Rockwell International from 1961 to 1973. He then went to work and retired from Savana River Nuclear plant in 2006. John's hobbies consisted of many things, but he had a special passion for scuba diving, water skiing, motor boat racing, auto racing and fixing and restoring things like his 1958 MGA Twin Cam. John was a man of great character he loved his family, was a devoted husband, good father and grandfather who will be missed by all. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years, Charolette Blankenship Hill; son, John Patrick Hill and his wife, Diana Hill; grandchildren, Nathan, Rebecca, Paula and Lauren Hill.
