Discovering John and his wealth of fascinating stories and memorabilia about his experiences at Sebring and Le Mans working with the Austin-Healey and MG racing teams was a very special opportunity. We invited both John and his lovely wife Charolette to be our guests at this past summer's Austin-Healey Conclave at the Homestead Resort. They were wonderful additions to the event by telling stories, answering questions and displaying southern charm that made them the highlight for everyone they met. The Austin-Healey community will miss the opportunity to get to know John even more and hearing about his adventures.

Snookie was the coolest cousin to the three Greer children in Tennessee. We always looked forward to his visits....the spear guns, the sports cars, his flips from the high-dive. So sorry we missed being in touch these last several years. Much love to Charlotte, Johnny and the grandchildren. The Wounded Warrior Project is a fitting tribute to John Paxton Hill, our "Snookie". I worked with Charolette for many years and up until she retired last year, she spoke of John and her son in our daily conversations. I felt like I knew her family so well. Charolette and John were a pair through everything. They were the epitome of what a marriage should be. They adored each other. Then the day came when I got to meet John in person and he was everything that I imagined. He was a caring man and I could tell he loved his family very much. He was smart, talented, and had such a great sense of humor. I talked to him over the phone often when checking on Charolette, and I could listen to his stories for hours. He made me laugh and he sometimes almost made me cry. I only hope and pray that his memories will live in you each day and that will help you get through the pain. I feel very fortunate to have had a chance to meet such a wonderful man and he will never be forgotten! God bless you all and I'll be thinking of you in the days ahead.

Our family has fond memories of Mr. Hill and his love for his family. We shared many wonderful conversations with him and loved hearing about his family and his son. He was a wealth of knowledge on many subjects and was so interesting to talk with. Our family will miss him after many years of living across the street from him and his lovely wife. Years ago - probably 30 or so - we had a great snow and he brought his snow sled over for our children, Jay and Tracy, to play on. To this day, Jay - now 41, and Tracy - now 38 - often speak of that day and how generous and kind Mr. Hill was. He had such a genuine love of life, family and friends and will be greatly missed and remembered. We pray for our Lord to shower each of you with comfort and peace. With love - Johnnie & Claudia Wiingard
