Obituary of Friedrich Wilhelm Klutzow

Cayce - Friedrich Wilhelm Klutzow, MD, 91, of Cayce, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015. He was born on August 6, 1923 in Dutch East Indies to the late Rudolph and Pauline Van Theil Klutzow. Friedrich provided healthcare services to fellow POW's while he was a prisoner on the Burma Road during WWII. After being discharged from active military service, Friedrich obtained a medical degree and served as a neuro-pathologist with the Veterans Administration for 36 years. Dr. Klutzow was published in multiple medical journals, textbooks and periodicals. Dr. Klutzow served on the medical school faculty at the University of South Florida. Friedrich is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Merlene Byars-Klutzow. Funeral service for Dr. Klutzow will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church in West Columbia with interment to follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church.
