When I think of Shirley, so many memories come to mind, beautiful and lasting memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. But, four words stuck as i began thinking of her: love, life, family, and fun. Shirley loved Frank for 51 long and beautiful years. Their love is one that reflects what The Bible described, total oneness. They were almost as one person, sharing sometimes, the same shadow (smile). What a beautiful picture of love. She loved God, and she loved her children and grandchildren sacrificially and unconditionally. What a testimony to have your granddaughter to say that you were her best friend. They had lots of fun together.
She loved life, and had a lot of fun living it with her Frank, children, grandchildren and friends. John l0:10 says, "I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Shirley lived her life abundantly, fully and completely. She lived life with adventure, enjoyment, and sometimes, risk. (Many funny stories were shared about some of the risk her adventures with Frank would take)
She loved life, family, friends and God, and she loved them with a smile that made everyone feel right at home with her. I am so thankful that I was given the blessing of being a part of her beautiful life, and that she shared so much of it with me. I especially enjoyed times with her at the Food Pantry at Southeast Community Church. I have known Shirley since we began attending Southeast Community Church (formerly Capitol View Baptist), over 20 years ago.
She is loved and will truly be missed, but each of our lives are so much better because she was a part of it. What a blessing that we all have been given. What a legacy of love and life that she has left.

Every Sunday at Rosewood Baptist, Shirley would come out of Sunday school and stop by the children's stand to speak. She was always smiling and bragging on her kids and grandchildren. I absolutely loved talking to her and will miss her. My love and my prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

Shirley was loved by the kids and staff at North Trenholm Weekday. There are so many memories that she made with each one of us. Shirley always shared her faith and was a strong caring lady that especially loved the Lord and her family above all else. We will continue to pray for her family in the days ahead knowing that she is celebrating in heaven with all her loved ones that went home ahead of her and I know that she is completely happy sitting at the feet of Jesus.

So many wonderful memories of Shirley showing her love to us "kids" from Capitol View. She cooked, she taught, she loved, she prayed-she was an angel sent from Heaven to minister to us all. Prayers to Frank, Susan, Linda and all the grands. You are loved.

I will never forget the love she showed towards all of us at Capitol View. Most of my childhood memories have Shirley, Frank, Susan and Linda in them. Having lost my own mom less than a year ago, I feel your pain. My thoughts, prayers and love are with you all at this time.
