Obituary of JoAnn Bone

GASTON-JoAnn Venvertloh Bone crossed over the threshold into Eternal Life early Thursday morning of April 30, 2015. She is assured a sweet place in the arms of the Lord by her enduring faith in Him and by her devoted love for her fellowman. JoAnn was a person who deeply cared for those who needed her care. She truly answered the mandate of God to love and serve our fellowman to the very best of our abilities. JoAnn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held fast to her covenants and testimony of the truthfulness of the principles of the Lord's gospel. JoAnn struggled hard in her early adulthood to raise her three daughters by a failed marriage. Working long day and night shifts to support her children, she determined to rise above her meager state of life and further educate herself. She attended Midlands Technical College and, after six long years of work and study, achieved her Associate degree in Computer Science. From there she progressed and eventually because a Data Systems Administrator for the State of Florida's Department of Family Services, from which she later retired. JoAnn is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Ernie Alan Bone of Gaston, SC; three beautiful daughters, who were the light of her life, Tammy Umbach of Miami, FL., Patricia Spires of Concord, NC., and Susan Perkins of Davidson, NC., her two precious grandchildren, Amanda Perkins Starnes and John Paul Umbach, and siblings Frank, Mary, Linda, June, Pryna and Kathy. She was predeceased by her brother, Bob Venvertloh. Friends and family are invited to pay last respects to JoAnn at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1330 Whippoorwill Drive, West Columbia, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation in the church chapel. Burial will be held at 4:00 p.m. following the service in Ocean Woods Memorial Park, 2408 S. Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
