Obituary of Troy C Wadford

COLUMBIA-Mr. Troy Calhoun Wadford entered into rest on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Palmetto Health Richland Medical Center. Born in Summerton, SC, he was a son of the late Troy Wadford and Gussie Matthews Wadford. At the age of five, Mr. Wadford went to live at the Epworth Orphanage where he stayed for eighteen years. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Marguerite Duncan. To this union, two children were born: Troy Anthony Wadford and Thomas Warren Wadford. Troy was a professional truck driver who loved farming and football. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wadford was predeceased by his son, Troy Anthony Wadford; twin brother, Gus Wadford; as well as two sisters, Louise Drayton and Evelyn Searles. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marguerite Wadford; son, Thomas "Tommy" Wadford (Cathie); two grandsons, Chad Anthony Wadford (fiancée, Mary Kathryne Elliott) and Brett Austin Wadford; and a great grandson, Troy Marion Wadford. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Thompson Funeral Home, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel, 845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 4:00 p.m., on the day of the service, in Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W. Dunbar Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Epworth Children's Home 2900 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205.
