Obituary of Havener Brown Fowke

Havener "Hal" Brown Fowke, of Cayce, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015 after a long illness. Hal was born February 28, 1938 in Aiken, SC, to the late Laurie C. and Ruth G. Fowke He is survived by his wife, Nannie Harris Fowke, four children, Michael Fowke (Vonda), Helen Kline (Kevin), Catherine Woodcock (Jamie) and Mark Fowke (Karin), four grandchildren, Kristi Kline, Kaitlyn Kline, Lily Woodcock and Gracie Woodcock, sister Sue White, brother James Fowke (Margaret), sister Phyllis Laughridge (Dick) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Josephine Harper, Helen Barnett, Betty Bell, Caroline Richardson and Charlotte Fowke. Hal was a partner in Capitol Bus Lines where he served as a coach operator from 1981 through 2008. He enjoyed interacting with others and traveling and was a selfless caregiver to his family. Hal was a founding member of the Palmetto Church of Christ in Irmo and will be remembered as a man whose life exemplified Christ Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27th, 2015 at 2:00pm at Palmetto Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Pallbearers will be; Melvin Medlin, Ed Brown, Mike Witte, Dorsey Brewer, David Switzer, and Rick Laughridge. Honorary pallbearers will be; Jim Nichols, Heyward Holton, Robert McKie, and Buddy Young. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Palmetto Church of Christ, Honduras Mission Fund, 7000 Nursery Road Columbia, SC 29212.
