I met my loving husband of 50 years on a Greyhound bus, (he was the coach
operator), in 1964. We became friends and fell in love and were married one year later. We had many wonderful times with our 4 children and later our 4 granddaughters. He will be greatly missed.

When thinking of Havener I always will remember him smiling. I don't recall him otherwise. Always smiling. When I was a kid, I took one of his Greyhound bus routes. I sat near the front and was able to watch him drive and get the view out of the front of the bus. It sounds like such a simple thing now. For me at the time, it was all wonderment.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences a human can face. At times, the loss can seem unbearable. The Bible promises; "God is close to the brokenhearted." It also says: "Throw your burden on God and he will sustain you." (Psalm 34;18 and 55;22) I hope this message will help you cope with the loss of your loved one.

My earliest recollections of knowing Havener were on the family trips to Barnwell and Boiling Springs, that the Selman family took during the summers when we were growing up in Birmingham.
Havener was a gentle, soft spoken fellow who first taught me to drive a "stick-shift"! I was ten, and my mom did not know! What great fun we had on those dirt roads.
I am so sorry for everyone's loss of this kind, peaceful man.
