Obituary of Wesley Eugene Waldrep

Wesley Eugene Waldrep (Gene) 4/24/1927 – 02/24/2023, age 95, entered into his eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 24, 2023. Gene had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand or share one of his stories. He loved Jesus, his wife Sarah, and his family and friends.

Gene served twice in the Army including being stationed in Germany after WWII as a Military Policeman guarding the office of Military Government in Berlin. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.

Gene worked for Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio for 25 years. He retired in 1988 to Lexington, South Carolina.

Gene is predeceased by his wife, Sarah Jane Waldrep of Lexington, SC. He is survived by his daughter, Shayne Waldrep Hardee (Joey Hardee) of Lexington, SC; daughter, Sharon Waldrep Rogers (Kelvin Rogers) of Lexington SC; four grandchildren: Jesse Rogers (Hunter St Laurent Rogers), Cassidy Rogers Bassie (Braxton Bassie), Wessli-Ann Hardee Singleton (Zack Singleton), and Alyx Hardee; and sister, Janie Waldrep.

He is predeceased by his parents, Dallas and Mittie Waldrep; and his brothers and sister: Agnes Waldrep Smith, Bud Waldrep, Billy Waldrep, and Tom Waldrep.

The family wishes to express their love and appreciation to his dear friends, Pastor Kenny Stafford and Debbie Stafford, and Glenn and Teresa Cornett who have supported and loved Sarah and Gene over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Harvest Hope Food Bank.

A graveside service for Mr. Waldrep will take place at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
