Obituary of Elgit Lothare McKenzie

Elgit Lothare “E.L” McKenzie, 79 of Lexington, South Carolina passed away July 1, 2022. He was born on March 4, 1943 in Mullins, South Carolina; son of the late Paul Manning and Lillian Maude Bullard McKenzie.

He retired from Trailways/Greyhound Bus Transportation after 23 years. He achieved the million-mile safety award. He then started McKenzie Trucking Inc. and retired in 2019.

He was a loving husband, dad, papa, brother, and friend. He always had open arms and never met a stranger. He loved spending time with his family. He knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face with his natural humor and joking personality.

E.L. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Perritt McKenzie; two daughters: Tammy McKenzie and son-in -law Andy Acciardo, Kimberly Mack and son-in-law Rusty Mack; three grandchildren: Tyler Coughlin, Kaylee Mack, and Madison Mack; one great grandchild: Espn Dunlap; sister: Patricia Williamson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Dayton McKenzie, Edgar McKenzie, and George “Bunny” McKenzie.

The family would like to thank each of you for your prayers, calls, and continued support.

Visitation will be Saturday July 9, 2022, from 2:00-3:00 pm with the Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 pm at Restore Church 2310 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia, SC 29169

A private burial will be scheduled at a later time.
