Obituary of Jourdan Andrew Guess

Jourdan Andrew Guess, resident of Elgin, SC, passed away on July 23, 2019 at the age of 21.

Jourdan was born January 8, 1998 in Columbia, SC. He graduated from Ridge View High School. He was a Blazer to heart. Every time we drove by or attended an event at the school, he would say “my school”, even well after he graduated. Jourdan was a local celebrity in the Hard Scrabble Road area and at Ridge View High School. Every store he went into there was at least one person that knew him and he greeted them with excitement, potential personal handshake, and calling them by the name he had decided for them. At school he walked the halls proudly and made convenient frequent stops to visit other staff and students and get a hook up on a snack. He loved wearing a Ridge View purple shirt, as he presented it as an option of clothing to wear every day.  He was a devoted cheeseburger and Diet Coke lover. He loved all Madea plays, Gospel music, Lion King Movie, Beyonce, and anything having to do with WWE. Jourdan never had a bad day, and every day was a new day to have fun, fist bump, dance a little, and play his favorite DVD on repeat. Jourdan will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Jourdan is survived by his mother, Sarah Parker; 4 brothers, Storm Guess (Alissa), Preston Guess, Jonethan Guess and Alexander Guess; his sisters, Kianna Guess and Alexis Guess; his grandparents, Alan and Carolyn Simmerson; 2 nephews, 3 nieces, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel. Jourdan will be laid to rest at a later date.
