Uncle Russell, you were such a role model to me as a child. The memories are endless. From sledding down the icy dirt road, to being a flower girl in your wedding and being in your shadow every step you took.( I still have a scar on my forehead from being your shadow.)May you Rest in Peace! Aunt Dee Dee, you was his first treasure in life, may you find comfort and peace knowing he loved you with EVERY beat of his heart. Angie and David, you both were added treasures in his life, and he was proud of you both. Kaylee and Jacob, the two of you completed his treasure chest. He smiled the Biggest smile because of the two of you. I pray his Love for All of you, as well as the memories live on in you the rest of your lives!

I had the pleasure to meet you and talk to you a couple of times. From the little we spoke I could tell right away that you had a good heart. I just regret we didn't get to know each other more. Rest in Peace Mr. Russell, we shall meet again someday. V/R Felix (Vickie's Guy).

Our dear friend Russell Chavis was a man who lived life as it came his way. He wasn’t one to shy away from whatever lay in his path, and his courageous nature was with him to the end.
He worked hard (Mr Harvey taught him that), loved his family, and had a beautiful, generous heart. He was a simple man who my brother always said looked like he could have been a Confederate general (and I think his tribute photo reflects that.)
We grew up together from the pre-teen years, and he was one rambunctious rascal on his Honda dirt bike. Thankfully, Dee Dee tamed him down a great deal before they started their perfect little family.
I add this last paragraph as a tribute to my dear friend out of love and admiration. Back in 1993, Russell was the driving force behind the house that we’re blest to live in. It was his brains, along with his brawn, that allowed a handful of us to frame and dry it in in four days. The fourth day, he pretty much sheeted the roof by himself as a couple of us fed him the plywood from below.
We will ever be thankful to have known Russell as the good, decent man that he was.
Blessings on his precious family.

We are so blessed to have known Russell and to call him our friend. Deedee, May God cover you with his loving arms as you go throughout life with only his memories. Memories are precious and only ours to cherish forever. Life is not so simple, we must love our love ones and be willing to let them go when it’s their time to go. God promises to take care of us and Wendell and I know he will take care of you as your family.
