Obituary of John Johnson

SOUTH CONGAREE - Services for John A. Johnson, Jr, 93, of South Congaree, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Officiating will be Rev. Elford Roof and Rev. Russell D. Peek. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 in Laurel Hill Lutheran Church Cemetery in Clyo, Georgia. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 125 Parker Street, Lexington, SC 29072.Mr. Johnson died at his home on Thursday, December 15, 2010. Born in Clyo, Georgia, he was the son of the late John A. Johnson, Sr. and Eva Rebecca Morgan Johnson. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Mr. Johnson had retired from the United States Army after 27 years of service, having served during WWII, Korean, and Vietnam wars. He also had retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission. He was a member of the Sertoma Club and the American Legion Post #90.Surviving are his daughters, Bekki Johnson of West Columbia, and Susan Obryan of Atlanta, GA; son, T.J.
