Obituary of Emerson Harmon

Emerson Berkley Harmon LEXINGTON-Services for Emerson Berkley Harmon, 66, of Lexington, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Oakwood Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Richard Wilson and Rev. William Porter. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Little Mountain, SC 29075. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Wednesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Pallbearers will be William Joyner, William Price, Larry Mixson, Dewey Hunt, Cecil Bradley, and Steve Murphy. Honorary pallbearer will be John Yelton. Memorials may be made to Building With Purpose Fund, Oakwood Baptist Church, 3520 Mineral Springs Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Mr. Harmon, resident of Lexington County, died on Monday, February 21, 2011 . Born February 26, 1944 in Richland County, he was the son of the late Johnnie Pressley, Sr. and Evelyn Alewine Harmon. He graduated from Dentsville High School, class of 1962. He attended Oakwood Baptist Church and was a member of the Men's I Sunday School Class. Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Virginia E. Harmon of Lexington; son, Mark W. Harmon of Columbia; daughter, Michelle H. Sightler (Marvin O.) of Irmo; one grandson, Thomas W. Graddick, Jr. of Columbia; brothers, Goldie L. Harmon (Delores) of Columbia, Travis R. Harmon of Columbia, and Albert L. Harmon (Rosemary) of Simpsonville; and sister, Janelle H. Pedings (Johnnie) of St. Matthews.
