James "Don" Wilson, Jr. IRMO—Funeral services for James "Don" Wilson, Jr., 77, of Irmo, will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday February 27, 2011 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Stephen Burnett. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason Wilson, Jamie Wilson, Ryan Sipes, D.J. Lambert, Duwayne Lambert and Matt Smith. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to S. C. Mr. Wilson, beloved husband of Geralene McCombs Wilson, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late James Wilson and Mary Drawdy Wilson and was a lifelong resident of the Columbia area. He worked at Petroleum Equipment Company for over 20 years and later owned his own business, Wilson Repair Service, for 30 years. Surviving in addition to his wife, Geralene McCombs Wilson of Irmo; daughters, Sharon Wilson of Irmo and Chyrell W. Sipes (Ricky) of Lexington; sons, Ronnie "Gruder" Wilson (Kelley) of Irmo, Chris Wilson (Wanda) of West Columbia and Donnie Brazell (Joyce) of West Columbia; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Jean Turner of Irmo; brother-in-law, Donnie McCombs (Shirley) of Rockhill. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Wilson, a grandson, Shawn Wilson, three sisters and a brother. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Kim Dewitt and Dr. Leland Mc Elveen of South Carolina Oncology for the special care shown for the past 5 years and also Tri-county Hospice.
