Mary Frances Williams WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Mary Frances Williams, 85, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Brookland United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. J. Wayne Smith, Jr. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews: Glenn Culley, Mike Lewter, Michael Lewter, Woody Lewter, W. Earle (Bubba) Williams, Jr., Kevin Williams, Wyman M. (Quen) Rish, Jr., and Matt Edwards. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Memorials may be made to Brookland United Methodist Church, 541 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Williams passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011. Born in Columbia and a lifelong resident of West Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Gladys Hughes Williams. She was a 1944 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High school, where she excelled in basketball. Over the years, she was very active in many civic organizations, square dance clubs and a longtime member of Brookland United Methodist Church. Affectionately known as "Mee Maw", she served her family with love and devotion and that was her greatest joy. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 64 years, Billy Lynn Williams, Sr., son, Billy Lynn Williams, Jr., both of West Columbia, numerous nieces and nephews, several of whom she provided a loving home for many years, brother-in-law, W. Earle Williams, Sr. of West Columbia. She was predeceased by her brother, Perry Williams and sisters, Catherine Lewter and Beverly Culley. Her care and thoughtfulness touched everything around her and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Agape Hospice for their care and concern, and especially Dr. J. Allan Hicks, Jr.
