Obituary of Frank Smith

Frank Eugene Smith JOHNSON CITY, TN: Services for Frank Eugene Smith, 63, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home West Columbia. Interment will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 pm prior to the service. Mr. Smith went peacefully into heaven on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at home with family. He was born on September 1, 1948 in Luray, Va. as the youngest son of the late Jessie Louise Smith. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He attended of Spartanburg Methodist College for a degree in Criminal Justice. Always known as a hard worker, he served several years as a police officer at the City of Columbia Police Department and Union Police Department respectively. He later worked in the trucking industry until his stroke in 2009. He will be remembered fondly as one who teased, told jokes and could make anyone smile. Survivors include: His wife of 42 years Barbara Susan Hoffman Smith; Daughter, Christi Jeannine Smith Bland of Johnson City, TN; Son, Brian Eugene Smith of Johnson City, TN; sister Francis Hampton Cooper of Gaston; Four adored granddaughters, Jessica Lindsay Bland, Trinity Katlin Smith, Rachel Alana Raitt and Sarah Angelina Raitt. Mr. Smith had numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his three brothers Roy Wilkes, George R Smith and James R Smith.
