Obituary of Doris Shuman

Doris Douglas Shuman WEST COLUMBIA: Service for Doris Douglas Shuman, 72, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Gantt Street Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Gene Rowell. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. this Wednesday evening, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Gantt Street Baptist Church, 2121 Gantt St., Cayce, SC 29033. Mrs. Shuman, widow of Robert Shuman, went to be with her Lord, Monday, December 19, 2011. Born in Kingsport, TN, she was a daughter of the late Perry Douglas and Pearl Douglas Moody. She was a member of Gantt St. Baptist Church; and was retired from Fairmont Tamper, now known as Harsco. Surviving is her special friend and companion, Robert Hooks of Newberry; daughter, Belinda Hurt Blake of Oldsmar, FL and son, Steve Hurt (Karen) of Cayce; four grandchildren, Samantha Hurt, Brittany Blake, Savannah Blake and Devin Hurt.
