Obituary of Francis Roof

Francis Blackburn Roof WEST COLUMBIA: Services for Francis Blackburn Roof, 93, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Russell D. Peek and Rev. Elford A. Roof. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2491 Emanuel Church Rd., West Columbia, SC 29170. Mr. Roof went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Born in Lexington County, SC, he was a son of the late Harvey Francis Roof and Bula Blackburn Roof. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he was the Sunday School secretary/treasurer. He worked as a parts manager for Fairfield Tractor Company for many years. Mr. Roof enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Surviving are: sons, Frankie Roof, Stanley Roof (Joyce) and Ricky Roof (Cathy) all of West Columbia; sisters, Virginia R. Kiser of Springdale and Hazel R. Bockus of West Columbia; four grandchildren, Angie Kodek, Stanley L. Roof, Jr. (Libby), Ricky N. Roof, Jr. (Angie) and Shane Roof (Stephanie); also seven great grandchildren. Mr. Roof was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Amalee Ricard Roof; sister, Floy R. "Aunt Dot" Frye; and brothers, George Roof, Cleo Albert "Buddy" Roof and James Nealey Roof.
