Obituary of Ruth Mcgaha Wood

Ruth Mae McGaha Wood CAYCE: Ruth Mae McGaha Wood joined her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2011. Born November 16, 1926, in Landrum, SC to Dock and Annis McGaha, she was 85 years of age. Ruth married Rev. Carlos J. Wood on Christmas Eve, 1942. She enjoyed 65 years of marriage with the love of her life. She served alongside her husband in the ministry for 48 years. Ruth (or "Nanny" as her grandchildren called her) is survived by children: Gwendolyn Greene (Dan) of Hendersonville, NC, Ronnie C. Wood (Diana) of Lexington, Connie Ruth Austin-Welch (Frank) of West Columbia, and Nadine Rene Hover (David) of Miami Beach, FL; grandchildren, Genee Dalton (Steve), Shay Austin (Lisa), Caroline Walke (Andy), Heidi Brown (Scott), great-grandchildren include Blake Austin, Matana Dalton, Andrew Walke, Jeremy Austin, Natalie Walke, Claire Brown, Cooper Walke, Madelyn Brown; sisters, Shirley Redden of Merriville, IN, Irene Henderson and Juliett Smith, both of Greenville, SC. Mrs. Wood was pre-deceased by her husband, Rev. Carolos J. Wood and two grandsons, Jeremy Daniel Austin and Jack Jason Austin. Please join the family in a Celebration Service for Mrs. Wood at Joel Baptist Church, Old Barnwell Road, West Columbia, SC; on Friday, December 23rd at 3 p.m., Pastor Kevin Rogerson and Rev. Gene Rowell are in charge of the service. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
