Obituary of Marie-Therese Planchenault Livermore

A graveside service for Marie-Thérese Planchenault Livermore, 85, will be held 10:00am Thursday, September 9, 2010 in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Ms. Livermore passed away Monday, September 6, 2010. Ms. Marie-Thérese Planchenault Livermore was the daughter of Robert Eugene Planchenault and Marie-Louise Lenogue of Saint-Martin-de-Bienfaite, Normandy, France. She was born on January 12, 1925. During World War II, she was deported to Germany and forced to work as a slave worker in Berlin. During the Allied heavy bombardments of Berlin, she escaped and remained in hiding in Normandy until Allied troops landed. In 1944 she went to Paris and joined the American Red Cross and later worked for the U.S. Army in Paris, France where she met her husband. She came to America in March 1946 and became very active in the U.S.O. She graduated from Modern Business Academy, attended Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama and Troy State University. She completed several studies with Fort Benjamin Harrison. She retired in 1987 from AAFES, Fort Jackson as a Retail Manager. Ms. Livermore was a Lifetime Charter Member of the National World War II Memorial.
