Obituary of Margaret S Moore

Margaret "Margie" S. Moore WEST COLUMBIA-Graveside service for Margaret "Margie" S. Moore, 92, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery, at I-20 Exit 71, Hwy 21 toward Blythewood, Pisgah Church Road. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Robertson. The family will receive friends following the service. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington will be assisting the family Mrs. Moore, widow of Glenn G. Moore, died Friday, December 23, 2011. Born in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Kelse Strickland, Sr., and Thelma Cone Strickland. Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Columbia. She was also a devoted long time member and children's Sunday School teacher of Earlewood Baptist Church. She lived her Christian faith and was a dedicated prayer warrior. She was very kind and gentle; and, she deeply loved all of her family, praying for each of them daily. Her friends and many others were special to her and she prayed for their needs and concerns as well. Surviving are her daughter, Glenda M. Ballard of West Columbia; her granddaughter, Greta C. Ballard of Cayce; sisters, Mary S. Holley of Lexington, and Miriam K. Roberts of Columbia; and brothers, Robert K. Strickland, Sr. (Dot) of Chapin, Franklin B. Strickland, Sr. (Kay) of Aiken, and Daniel R. Strickland of Lake Murray; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by infant twins, sister, Edith Dunnicliff, and brothers, W.K. Strickland, Jr. and Otis C. Strickland. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the many years of outstanding care by Dr. Robert Smith and staff of SCOA. In addition, we are grateful for the care and support from the staff at Heartstrings Hospice, with special thanks to Lisa, Lee, Kimberly and Pastor Bill.
