Obituary of Cletus Toppings

GASTON - Funeral service for Cletus Jay Toppings, 76, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by the Rev. Scott Smith. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 this evening at the funeral home.Mr. Toppings died Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Born in Logan, WV, he was a son of the late Estell and Ruth Toppings. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his daughter, Tammy Kitchings (Rick); son, Spencer Toppings; sister, Mabel Woods; brothers, Denver Toppings and Gail Toppings; three grandchildren, Kristopher McCray, Sheree McCray and Ricky Kitchings; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Moore, Sabrina, McKalee, Karissa, Chloe and Shawn McCray.
