Obituary of Gerald Heyward

Gerald Heyward ?Gerry? Copeland II, 28, of Hopkins, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010. A celebration of life for Gerald Heyward Copeland II, affectionately known as "Gerry", will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Bluff Baptist Church, Columbia. Rev. David Covington & Rev. Bill Geddings will conduct the service. Born in Columbia 28 years ago, Gerry was the beloved son of Gerald H. and Suzette H. Copeland. Gerry was a 2000 graduate of Hammond School and attended Charleston Southern University. An avid writer and chef, Gerry's creative prose and culinary masterpieces will be a lasting treasure for his family and friends. Surviving are his adoring parents; sisters Christy (Todd) Wingard of Cayce, Sherri Copeland of Atlanta, and Natalie (Jim) Crosland of Columbia; nephews Tate, Trace, and Jimmy; and aunts Linda Copeland, Mary Sue Kincaid, Brenda Yon, and Theresa Hollingsworth. Gerry also leaves behind his much loved dogs Jasper and Butters as well as many loyal friends. Gerry's family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home with the memorial service to follow on Thursday. Greenlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the service arrangements.
