Obituary of James Brabham

COLUMBIA—Funeral services for James W. Brabham, Jr., 78, of Columbia will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2011 at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Roy A. Arnold. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors. Pallbearers will be Scott Brabham, Chris Brabham, Will York, Wayne Powell, David Brabham, Jr. and Wayne Brabham. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Mr. Brabham passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011. Born in Allendale, SC, he was the son of the late James Watson Brabham, Sr. and Corrie Morris Brabham. He was an active member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church and a member of the Usher Committee and of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Mr. Brabham was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He spent most of his working career in building supply sales and retired from Sequoia Supply Company. He was also an avid gardener. Surviving are his sons, James Douglas Brabham (Sandy) of Pendleton, David Lawrence Brabham (Kim) of Cheraw and Steven Wayne Brabham of Lexington; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann West Brabham and a sister, Gertrude Littrell.
