Obituary of William Joseph Price

William Joseph "Bill" Price CAYCE—Funeral services for William Joseph "Bill" Price, 86, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Rev. Tommy Pillow. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Gardens, with Fraternal Rites and military honors. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, and all other times at the home of Wayne and Marcia Wadford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Suite 301, Cayce, SC 29033; Cayce Masonic Lodge Roof Fund, 1701 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033; or Jimmy Quinn Scholarship Fund, State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State Street, Cayce, SC 29033. Mr. Price died Thursday, June 23, 2011. Born in Forest City, NC, he was the son of the late Oscar Timmons Price and Sue Pearl Moore Price. Mr. Price was a graduate of Greensboro High School, Greensboro, NC. He served in the US Army 94th Infantry Division during World War II in France and Germany. He was retired from the US Army Reserves, was a member of the SC State Guard, a graduate of the US Army War College, and a member of the Confederate Sons of America. Mr. Price was a member of State Street Baptist Church and was retired from Whaley Electric Company. He was a member and Past Master of Cayce Masonic Lodge #384, a member of the Scottish Rite, and Jamil Shrine, and a member of American Legion Post 130. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Betty Prichett Price; daughter and son-in-law Marcia Price and Wayne Wadford and daughter-in-law Gail Hinson Price; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy Price and Michael Evans of Portsmouth, VA; four grandchildren, Billy Gardner (Conni), Beth Gardner, Michael Nix (Jennifer) and Ashley Price; three great-grandchildren, Cecilia Gardner, Will Nix and Lance Lambert; nieces Alexa Modderno (David Fernandez) and Judith Evans; and nephew Tim Thompson (Darlene). Mr. Price was preceded in death by his son, Lee Price; sisters, Gloria Modderno and Charlotte Thompson; granddaughter, Leslie Elizabeth Price; and lifelong friend, Banks C. Durham.
