Obituary of Marjorie McNair

Marjorie S. McNair CAYCE—Funeral services for Marjorie S. McNair, 78, of Cayce, will be held at 12 noon, Monday, August 22, 2011 at Cayce United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Susan Culler. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Burkett, Donny Burkett, Ronny Burkett, Tim Burkett, Johnny Spires, Jeff Spires, Jamie Spires and Bobby Price. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia will be assisting the family. Memorials may be made in Mrs. McNair's honor to Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033 or Windsor United Methodist Church, 950 Windsor Lake Blvd., Columbia, SC 29223. Mrs. McNair, widow of the late Loomis "Lin" McNair, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011. Born in Pelion, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Drayton Spires and Sarah Frazier Spires. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of Cayce United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of BC High School and was an employee at Palmetto Pediatrics and Burkett, Burkett and Burkett, CPA. Marjorie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her daughter, Donna Crook of Surfside Beach; son, Charley McNair (Cheryl) of Cayce; grandchildren, Sherri Backman (Troy), Richard Crook and Casey Crook; great-grandchildren, Kerri Rabon and Kelsey Dearing; great-great-grandchild, Emmeelin Rabon; sister, Kathryn Spires Burkett of Lexington. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kristi Dawn McNair and two brothers, J. Fred Spires and J. Carl Spires. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Lexington Extended Care and Tri-County Hospice for their compassionate care of Margie and her family.
