Lela Evora Wedelstedt Deason LEXINGTON—Lela Evora Wedelstedt Deason passed away peacefully Friday, August 26, 2011. Formerly from Foley Alabama, Mrs. Deason had been living in Lexington, South Carolina since 2003. She was born November 18, 1918 in Big Sandy Tennessee to Lela Pierce and Charles Wedelstedt. She was the widow of Enos Leo Deason and was preceded in death by her daughter Karon Griffiths. Mrs. Deason is survived by a son, Charles Russell Deason and wife Lynn of Lexington, South Carolina; son-in-law Robert Griffiths of Foley, Alabama; grandchildren, Russ Deason of Winchester, Massachusetts; Michael and John Deason of Lexington, South Carolina; Joel Deason of Columbia, South Carolina; William, Robby and Benjamin Griffiths of Foley, Alabama; nine great grandchildren; nieces, Jennilee and Sarah Montgomery. Mrs. Deason was always active in her church. She worked as a kindergarten teacher in Huntsville, Alabama and as a bookkeeper in Foley, Alabama. All her adult life she enjoyed volunteering in various capacities. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2011 at Wynn Cemetery, Summerdale, Alabama. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3225 Sunset Blvd, Suite 100, West Columbia, South Carolina; Connie Maxwell Children's Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, South Carolina 29648; or Summerdale Baptist Church, Summerdale, Alabama 36580.
