Obituary of Clyde Fraser

Clyde Allan Fraser left this earth and soared with guardian angles, entering the Pearly Gates of Heaven and into the arms of the Lord on September 19, 2011. He was the son of the late Clyde Jarvis Fraser and Mary Ruth Williamson Fraser. He is survived by a sister, Mary R. Fraser. After graduating from A.C. Flora High School, class of 1966, he was employed by W.T. Grants Department Store and then Morrison's Cafeteria. He retired December 31, 2010 from Cedar Terrace Paper Company after 24 years of dedicated service as a salesman. He had a chance encounter with a friend, Lonnie Caughman, that he had not seen in several years. This chance encounter led him to visiting Lebanon United Methodist Church. With the unconditional love of Lonnie and his wife Jeannie, Clyde began to know the individuals who would become his church family and with whom he formed a loving bond. After months of visiting and working with his spiritual advisor, Reverend La Rue Cook, he walked up the steps of the church and joined his Lord, his new faith and church family. Upon the untimely death of Reverend Cook he met Reverend Mark Williams who became his pastor, spiritual mentor and friend. He was elected a Trustee of the church in January 2011. Clyde belonged to the Sports Car Club of America and Men's Club. He will be missed by his sister Mary, special friends Steve Stephenson, Bobby and Anne Brown, Cheryl Johnson, Chris and Brenda Powell, Chuck Cecil, Gale Weinacker, Sheri Lawson, the Caughman's and his church family. Clyde was a beloved son, brother and friend. The family would like to thank Bill Coury, Administrator at Heartland Nursing Home and Alysia Shumpert, Admission Coordinator at Heartland Nursing Home, for their sincere assistance. Funeral services will be at Lebanon United Methodist Church on September 24, 2011 at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow immediately at Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. Please wear casual clothing, favorite NASCAR driver, college colors or other favorite sports attire. Clyde was an avid NASCAR fan and cherished the memories of all the races number 43, Richard Petty, ever ran. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund, Lebanon United Methodist Church, 10220 Garners Ferry Road, Eastover, South Carolina, 29044.
