Obituary of Claire Schleyer

Claire Schleyer LEXINGTON—A memorial service for Claire Schleyer, 62, of Lexington, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Officiating will be Dr. Gary Ledbetter. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Claire Schleyer, beloved wife of Richard Schleyer, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011. Born in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Smith and Anna Ford Smith. Formerly of New York, she had been an area resident since 1991 and attended Kennerly Road Baptist Church in Irmo. She raised and home schooled her children. She loved the Lord. Claire was a great wife. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister, and grandmother. Surviving in addition to her husband of 35 1/2 years, Richard Schleyer of Lexington; daughters, Sarah S. Middleton (Jim), Keren J. Hammond (Jordan), Rebekah A. Geiger (Conrad) and Rachel E. Monts (J.P.) all of Lexington; sons, Richard R. Schleyer III (Christy) of Ft Rucker, Alabama and David A. Schleyer (Crystal) of Lexington; fifteen beautiful grandchildren; sister, Anne Conklin (Rhett) of Warwick, NY; brothers, Thomas Smith (Lynn) and Terry Smith of Tinton Falls, NJ.
