Obituary of Carl Schaef

Carl Stockton Schaef COLUMBIA: Services for Carl Stockton Schaef, 69, will be held at 12:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, November 2, 2011, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Dr. Bill Egerdahl and Dr. David B. Smith. Interment will follow at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Bible Fund, 416 Denham Ave., West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Schaef went to be with his Lord, Monday, October 31, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of Winifred Cramner Schaef Barnes and the late Charles Schaef. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Schaef was retired from Palmetto Health Baptist. He loved others, loved his church, giving Bibles, and sharing his faith in Jesus Christ; he was a good husband and steward of everything that God had given to him. Mr. Schaef loved his country and the military, he served in the U.S. Army. He also enjoyed playing tennis. Surviving are his mother, Winifred Schaef Barnes of Butler, PA; his lovely wife of 35 years, Barbara Schaef of Columbia; sisters, Mary Joan Kitchen (Alan) of Butler, PA and Carol Joan Schaef of Pittsburgh, PA.
