Obituary of Joe Pisano

A funeral service celebrating the life of Joe Pisano (U.S. Army, Ret.), 91, of Columbia, SC will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Patrick Dye officiating. Full military honors and interment will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621 in Joe?s memory. Mr. Pisano departed this earthly life on Friday, November 25, 2011. He was born in Flint, Michigan on December 18, 1919. He was one of 13 children born to Nick Pisano and Maria Fuscaldo Pisano. Mr. Pisano was retired from the United States Army after 33 years of dedicated service to our country in which he served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received numerous awards to include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Silver Star Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Pisano was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Jo Pisano Sellers; 5 sisters and 6 brothers. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Georgia Eilene Pisano; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Pisano Payne and Carl Payne; a sister, Theresa LaRosa; grandchildren, Tammie (Charles) Boyte, Debbie Blanchard (Jason) Cook, John Blanchard, Todd (Kaye) Miles, and Brad Miles; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Kristopher & Katelyn Blanchard, Justin and Ashley Boyte, Phillip Miles, and Lauren Miles (Jason) Ray; great-great grandchildren, Brianna, Gracie, & Savannah Ray and Sandra Miles. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Adult Day Care and Advanced Care Services; also to Harmony Care Hospice and Home Health Care who kept him comfortable in his own home. We will miss ?Grandpa Spaghetti? ?Joe Blow from Idaho? and his famous saying ?I feel like a feather in the breeze.?
